Curriculum
Springboro Preschool Discovery uses The Creative Curriculum For Preschools, published by Teaching Strategies. Aligned with the State of Ohio Early Learning Content Standards, this research-based curriculum incorporates developmentally appropriate activities and best practices.
Through this curriculum framework, our teaching staff provides hands-on, purposeful-play-based learning activities for our students. A typical day will include center time activities, shared read-aloud experiences, small group activities, and large group meetings. Some activities are teacher-directed while other activities are child-initiated.
This comprehensive curriculum supports our teachers as they provide our students with a wide range of foundational activities in literacy, phonics, and mathematics. It also serves as a catalyst to offer students learning opportunities in the following interest areas: dramatic play, cooking, art, sand and water play, blocks, toys and games, library, discovery, music, outdoor adventures, and gross motor development.
Some of the many topics our students study in these Creative Curriculum investigations include: Trees, Buildings, Rocks, Ants, Recycling, and Exercise.
